• Do the participants get along with one another?
• Are the participants friends with one another?
• How do staff members help me manage conflicts with others in the
program, if needed?
There are enough trained staff members to support all
participants.
• How many staff members work at the program? How many staff
members are at each activity?
• How are staff members trained?
• How much experience do staff members have in their work?
The program teaches skills that support positive behaviors.
• How do staff members help me (or others) stay on track?
• If I need support to help manage my emotions, how would the
program do that?
• If someone else is upset and needs staff members attention, how
can other participants feel safe?
Staff members take action, when needed, to keep participants
from hurting themselves or others.
• Is the space safe? Are individuals adequately supervised?
• Do participants ever become aggressive with one another? How
often?
• Do participants ever take advantage of one another? (take money,
inappropriate touching, lie to get things)
• How is this behavior addressed?
• What do staff members do to keep other participants safe? Do staff
members have training in CPR? What about any medical treatment I
might need?
Staff members are trained in best practices to support positive
behaviors.
• How are new staff members trained?
• Do staff members receive regular training to support positive
behaviors? What credentials or certifications do staff members have
to support positive behaviors?
• Is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or other behavior specialist
available?
• Is medication support available if I take medication during the day?
Program rules are clear and fair.
• What are the program rules? (Ask if they have a list that you can
take home.)
• What happens if I break a program rule?
• Are the rules available to give to families?
